Despite being a top 50 team, there really is not a whole lot to be excited about for the Spartans this year. The Spartans struggled running the ball last year, which is always their core strategy for moving the ball and while they should be better this year, so will the rest of the Big 10 defenses. The defense should be better as well, but again, they are only keeping pace with the rest of the Big 10 heavyweights. Everything about this team just screams of mediocrity on both sides of the ball. The real problem though is that even if they overpreform, they are likely to finish no better than fourth place in the conference. Iowa, Wisconsin, and Ohio State are loaded this season, and only with a little lusck could the Sparties sneak past a Penn. State that will be rebuilding a bit this season.
There is undoubtedly a bowl bid upcoming this year but not enough improvement to pass any of the Big 10 heavyweights.
Love reading these. One small request however. Not sure if you already were planning this because your last two have, but can we continue getting team names in the title of the article? Makes it a lot easier to reference back to earlier in the list.
