In what may go down as one of the happiest moments in my life, today my wife walked through the door home from work, and insisted that today needed to be the day we made the leap from antena to DirecTV. This makes Taylor happy boy because for the first time in my life I get to watch the Dolphins every week, even in week 16 where they will likely enter the game at a miserable 3-11 or something and the Pats beat them by 40. I patiently sat on the couch while my wife placed the order online with barely a word of imput or begging from me.

In other sports news, even with the Broncos gone from the Mountain West, the Vandals appear to have a new insurmountable challenge to deal with.

Pre-Season Countdown:

8. South Carolina

The Gamecocks climbed a huge mountain last season by finnnnaaallllllyyyyyyy winning their first SEC East division crown. This year anything but a repeat of that feat will be considered a disappointment and fans will be expecting more.

How far this team can go will rely solely on what happens at the QB position. Incumbent starter Stephen Garcia was suspended for an unprecedented, NBA-esque 5th & 6th time, when people complain that SEC teams will do anything to win, this proves that beef. SI probably would have bashed Boise State or Oregon on it's cover story if they hadn't kicked him off the team after the second suspension. Gamecocks fans have good reason to be concerned about Garcia's leadership skills and even more reason for concern if he gets suspended again as there is absolutely no experience behind him. Garcia will not have to an All-American though, not with the playmakers around him. WR Alshon Jeffery is in my opinion the third best WR in the country and start RB Marcus Lattimore is my pick for this years Heisman Trophy winner. The line is not spectacular but it will get the job done.

The defense is full of playmakers and has been adding star recruits of the last few years, this year gaining a committment from the country's top prospect in DE JaDeveon Clowney, who start immediately. The schedule is not easy but it is just the SEC East, with Florida at home, and will skip Alabama from the west.

Pick: Probably my riskiest pick of the season, in a large upset, SEC champions 10-3. Sugar Bowl.
